Back in March I was at the Mumbrella Commscon in Sydney and was fortunate enough to catch the keynote speaker, Faris Yakob, someone I am a huge fan of. A colleague and I went up to meet with him, I wanted to ask him his thoughts about Influencer Marketing and he said he really disliked the name. My colleague and I both nodded in agreement. I told him the influencers I work with also hate the term “influencers”. They are creators, they are writers, photographers, stylists, designers, illustrators… Then my colleague said I think is should be called “Relationship Marketing” and that was my light bulb moment.
